Nicol - World Squash Champion
Nicol David is the new World Open Champion. BBC Sports reported that she beat Rachael Grinham 8-10 9-2 9-6 9-6. She will also be the new world No. 1 come January. No prize for guessing who will be the Sportwoman of the year 2005. Congratulations to Nicol.

In George Town, Nicol is set to receive "something special" from the State Government.
Although he declined to reveal details, Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon said Nicol, who was born here, would be "appropriately" rewarded.

許子根說，州政府給予妮科爾的的獎勵，是要表揚她為國及州爭光，也激勵她更加努力，協助檳州建立卓越的世界壁球訓練中心。
